Private prison companies are profiting off mass incarceration and Trump's cruel immigration agenda, and now they're pouring millions into Republican campaigns to keep the status quo.

This is corruption, and we need to abolish super PACs to fight against it. theappeal.org/private-pris...

Our elders deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported.

I was grateful to spend time with Homewood seniors at their annual Harvest Event, sharing a meal and hearing directly from the people who make our community so special.

Congratulations to AGH nurses on this incredible victory for fair wages, safe staffing, and worker protections.

Our nurses show up for us and our families during some of the hardest moments of our lives. They deserve to know that their employers will show up for them, too.

UPMC, it's your turn.

Big Tech is pouring millions into elections to protect its interests in expanding data centers.

Our communities deserve a say in what gets built in our backyards, what happens to our water & energy costs, and who benefits.

Congress must pass my Abolish Super PACs Act to get money out of politics.

As political fights over artificial intelligence accelerate, there is now a super PAC aligned with the data center industry. Its first bet is on Ms. Graham, a Republican in an unexpectedly tight race.

Young people aren’t just the future of our democracy. They’re shaping it right now.

Thank you to the University of Pittsburgh Student Government for bringing students together for an important conversation about voting rights, civic engagement, and building a democracy that works for everyone

There is no justice without workers' rights, and there is no progress without organizing.

Dolores Huerta spent her life proving that. We honor her legacy by continuing the fight for working people and the communities that too often go unseen.

For 35 years, the Metro-Urban Institute has helped equip faith leaders and community organizers to build a more just world.

It was an honor to celebrate that legacy and the people who continue to turn their faith into action for justice, equity, and freedom across our communities.

Eight years ago today, 11 members of Pittsburgh’s Jewish community were killed in a horrific act of hate.

Today, we honor their lives, remember their loved ones, and stand with a community forever changed by this tragedy. May their memories always be a blessing.

The text reads, “May Their Memories Be a Blessing,” followed by the names Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger. A candle appears at the bottom over a darkened photograph of a memorial with flowers and tributes outside a building.

The cost of living is too high & Black families across Pittsburgh are feeling the pressure. From rising housing costs to healthcare, working people are being asked to do more with less. I’m grateful to Dr. Asa Lee & Pittsburgh’s Black clergy for making space for this important conversation.

The fight for voting rights is far from over. Disenfranchisement efforts by SCOTUS & Republicans continue to threaten Black representation & the progress we’ve fought so hard for.

We cannot afford to sit back while generations of progress are rolled back. We must keep organizing & fighting.

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.

I’m proud to have helped bring millions in federal funding back to Allegheny County for affordable housing. But building more homes is only part of the solution.

It was great to join Senator Nick Pisciottano & Representative Dan Goughnour for the 2026 Senior Wellness and Safety Expo in McKeesport.

Our seniors deserve access to the resources & support they need to live healthy. Thank you to everyone working to serve our Mon Valley community.

Trump and Republicans cut Medicaid and refused to extend the ACA tax credits. Now, health insurance premiums are expected to climb again in 2027.

Working families cannot keep absorbing higher costs while their paychecks fall behind. We need to lower premiums and make healthcare affordable for all.

Allegheny County set the standard and made history with the first county-level paid parental leave policy in the country.

This victory reflects the power of organizing & advocacy. No parent should have to choose between a paycheck & caring for their newborn. Now it's time to guarantee paid family.

I met with the Pittsburgh Anti-War Committee to hear from community members calling for an end to the war with Iran.

We cannot continue pouring resources into Trump's illegal war that costs innocent lives and billions of taxpayer dollars. No more endless wars.

Rep. Summer Lee @repsummerlee.bsky.social Oct 20

Beechview is one of Pittsburgh's most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, shaped and strengthened by generations of immigrants and working families.

I was proud to celebrate Casa San Jose’s new Latino Resource and Welcome Center, which will expand access to healthcare & mental health services.
